The next fallout needs a companion system similar to fallout nv but also add some companions that will not only be with you no matter what Karma or faction (Raul is a good example for a all rounder) but actually completely change depending on those two,we definitely also need player Perks interacting with Companions and how you make them join your party

you can only get 1 companion in fnv except for ed-e and Rex, there are no charisma based system like in old fallouts lol, fallout 4 got the best companion system, because in new vegas it's so easy to get companion's trust and only Arcade got high requirements to recruit him and gain his trust to get his personal quest

I don't think it's voiced protagonist problem, imo it was just a bad attempt at reworking that system. Voiced protagonist is fun, and even though the "sarcastic" option is trash and memed about, sometimes how the protagonist voices the sarcasm makes me chuckle and even laugh, so I hope they'll leave the voice, just rework the system somehow, I'm more than sure they can make the affection and voiced protagonist work together

I think the closest they’ve ever gotten to perfecting the system was with specifically arcade in NV. He reacts to the choices you make like companions in F4 which unlocks his quest at a natural pace for new players, but still gives you the option to rush it if you know where to look. My issue with NV is companions like Raul where they have incredibly specific triggers for their quest that I’m almost positive I would never have found without a guide.

not to mention half the companions aren't written extremely well 😭 like I LOVE paladin danse and it feels like after you complete his story they just... gave up on him. like I feel there should've been more expanding on his new identity as a synth, like being less hateful towards synths or even ghouls in a way.

Mb we should start with their combat performance? In fallout 4 companions usually don't do shi, missing every shot etc. In fallout nv on the other hand they actually hitting something and their aim is different for each companion

Plus the removal of the companion wheel in fallout 4 makes talking, trading and doing things with your companion more clunky and take more time 🫩
