I think about those hours she spent alone in that car all the time. She wasn’t even the one who originally placed the call for help. Her older cousin originally called and was murdered while still on the line. Hind had to watch that girl, her other cousins, her aunt, and her uncle all be slaughtered and that’s when she picked up the phone because she was the only person left alive. And then she had to sit in the car for god knows how long until she passed, surrounded by their bodies, watching a tank encircle the car only feet away from her as she tried to duck away from view because she knew they’d kill her if they saw anyone still moving in that car. I remember hearing that phone call when it first came out and how everyone was holding their breaths hoping that she was okay. I remember when they finally found her vehicle and the ambulance she had been picked up in obliterated. She finally got out of that car and got maybe five minutes of comfort from another human being in person before it all ended. Israel can come up with whatever excuses they want for shooting up that car. Even if it was somehow a mistake (it obviously wasn’t), that ambulance vehicle should have never been touched. How am I supposed to believe this isn’t a genocide when the first instinct of one of their soldiers is to shoot when seeing an ambulance carrying an injured person? There is no regard for life at all among that military and something needs to be done.
