people commenting about "they're supposed to be loud" without understanding the effects of high pitch sirens to people's quality of life, pets that get triggered from high pitch sirens and hearing damage from consistent exposure to these sirens. mamdani should use the European standard of sirens which is a lower frequency, so it travels farther without it being louder, with the same results while being less damaging to people's ears

Retired paramedic, I hard agree on this one. We desperately need variable dB sirens. Rural and loud areas need louder sirens, and cities (especially at night) need quieter ones.
