Legacy policies unfairly advantage some women over others in a way that the women who aren’t legacies have no real way to correct for. Girls that wanna quit aren’t going to be swayed by legacy boosts. We keep them in by making the experience fun and fulfilling all 4 years.

Sorority advisor here: they’re not. Seniors are so checked out if even there at all, and there are major leadership issues because it it!

I also think there is a narrative of sororities “not caring about legacies” because chapters reputations change over time and legacies may not want to be a part of that chapter anymore.

My house implemented a senior experience chair and we got a lot of events for just our PC as seniors which I think was a great idea and helped

Great point!!! My daughter just got dropped by my house in rush as a legacy. I did all those alumni donations too 😆

I would LOVE for my daughter to join my sorority, but chapters change with each MC & chapter culture varies at each school. I’m Panhell President & I’d love for my daughter to go Greek & share the bond of Greek life! I was a first gen greek and I couldn’t imagine if I was seen as a lower tier PNM because I wasn’t a legacy. Removing the pedestal for legacies created more opportunities for women like me & historically excluded women!

Dropped my senior year after joining as a junior transfer student. I just couldn’t handle the time commitments and disorganization

My old sorority would threaten to fine you heavily and send you to collections if you stop paying. One girl needed to drop because of really tough financial troubles and leadership said that not being able to afford it is not a good enough reason to drop or go early alum. 🥰🥰🥰

In my chapter we reduce the requirements for juniors and seniors so that they can participate without the same time commitment.

If you’re not an alumni you can’t join the alumni associations in the different cities which can be great for networking and manning friends if you move to a new city. My daughter is a senior and she still loves being in her sorority.

I am a legacy and it’s the only reason why I stayed in all 4 years! I wanted to be able to do stuff with my mom post grad. If I didn’t have that I would have dropped as a Junior.

half my class dropped senior year 😭. I was more involved in panhellenic than stuff for my actual chapter and if that wasn’t an option I probably also would have dropped
