@hustlersnthehood: At 14 he had already failed two years of high school, was stealing cars, and was about to be somebody's father. James Harris grew up in Fresno in what he calls a crack den. One night he was driving a stolen Cadillac to pick up his girlfriend Rosina, pregnant with their son, when police tried to stop him. He ran. She watched the chase from where she stood. Then a counselor named Henry Ray told him something no adult ever had: that Fresno State had a program that would pay for him. When the UCLA medical school acceptance came, Harris drove back to that school with a copy in his hand so Ray could see it. He is now chair of surgery at Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center. He and Rosina have been married 34 years. Via: TODAY #HustlersNTheHood
