The narrative is being steered that the media were solely responsible, but that not entirely correct. I have a very close friend (who happens to be black) and appointed to a position of responsibility. References and true diligence by the University’s HR department didn’t happen. So clearly there’s a weak link from the ‘institution’. With someone as important as appointing a professor to lecture at one of the best universities in the world, there should be no shortfall in checking EVERY aspect of Jason Arday before he was appointed.
