@brick_brine: One of the comments I get most often about my hand-painted LEGO stained glass windows is that they should cost about the same as printed LEGO pieces. I disagree—and this video shows why. The time lapse you’re seeing is two hours of painting alone. That doesn’t include the additional hour I spent designing the template, drawing out the composition, planning the colors, or preparing the pieces before paint ever touched LEGO. Every window is painted by hand, which means every one is slightly different. I’m also intentionally building texture into the paint so the finished piece feels closer to traditional stained glass instead of looking like a flat UV-printed element. Printed pieces absolutely have their place. But this is a different product. These are priced as art because they are art—original designs, individually handcrafted on LEGO elements, with hours of labor behind each finished piece. LEGO doesn’t always make the set, element, or aesthetic we imagine. That’s why the MOC community exists.
