They're mad at THAT man. For what? For surviving? For not dying alongside them? For daring to find someone who loves him after the worst thing that can happen to a human being? He forgave her. He publicly defended her. He said she wasn't a monster. He raised money for her. And they're dragging him for remarrying. What was he supposed to do? Build a shrine and stop existing? He gave that woman more grace than any human being has ever earned and the public response is "how dare he move on." And they know, they KNOW, that if a man had done this, there would be no sympathy campaign. There would be no op eds about how the system failed him. There would be no comment sections saying his wife should have known. He'd be Timothy Jones. He'd be Chris Watts. He'd be a monster, sentenced in two hours, case closed. Nobody would write "this poor man is very sick". Nobody would blame the mother for going to the store. The double standard isn't subtle. It's not hidden. It's right there in plain text and they still can't see it because seeing it would break something they need to believe about themselves, that their empathy is universal, that their compassion is principled, that they care about victims. They don't care about victims. They care about women. The three actual victims in this story are children.
