@chelseadelgado_: I truly only care if you are a good human and think we can believe different things and still be friends but I wonder if you feel you can only be *so close* to people who believe differently than you. Idk it really makes me sad and makes it even harder to make close mom friends in my area and I needed to vent 🥲
I’m hard core Catholic and don’t care what religion my friends are. My husband is non-denominational. I care much more about how someone lives their life vs. what religion they are.

i left catholicism and ive distanced myself from people who are very christian because i feel like i dont click with them anymore because so much of who i am has been shaped by religion, plus me and my husband have been “burned” by “friends” just trying to convert us back

A good Christian should be a friend to someone to show you how Jesus loves others, not ice you out!!

Yup growing up in Idaho with Mormons everywhere, I would be friends with Mormons and then all of a sudden when they find out I’m not they would back off. It’s incredibly hard to make friends where I live especially with me being outspoken on my political beliefs 😅😅😅

I feel like the only time is “hard” to be friends with someone outside the church or someone who left is if you’re super negative about the church trying to make me leave to, or doing drugs and getting crazy black out drunk. Social drinking and what not doesn’t bother me. So I’m sorry you’re getting passed over, I still am friend with all types of people inside and out of my faith (LDS). But I’ll be your friend 🥰

We’re in north Peoria and it’s rough being a non religious family here! I’ve definitely noticed a vibe. And we homeschool too, so we reallyyy don’t fit in 😂

I stopped going to church about 2 years ago and all my “Christian” friends stopped talking to me. It says a lot about them, I’m perfectly fine without them.

I think we all experience this in some way and I try not to take it personally and just go back to it’s all about the proximity principle. People interact with those who are in their proximity and are comfortable. It’s hard and awkward making new friends, so most people resort back to what’s comfortable and local to them and easy. It’s tough finding “your people” as an adult 🫤

Sometimes I definitely feel that I’m not enough of something for another person But I’ve also been lucky to find some friends that feel similarly

My best friend and I are not the same and I love that, we always talk about things we don’t agree on so that we can see both sides of things! It makes our relationship stronger to be honest! ♥️

Yes! I feel like someone stopped talking to me because they all of the sudden became super Christian and was going to church. Because I wasn’t enough to their standards they stopped talking to me. Psh bye then

Chelsea we are the same! I am Christian and do bible studies but I am still very much friends with people who believe in God but don’t go to church. I think it’s just respect for one another and your beliefs. ❤️

for sure have felt this! really turned away from the church after growing up in it and all of those people didn't really want to acocciate with me anymore. I just slowly found other people that didn't care about my religion and just cared about me. it's hard, but you can do it!

Girl!!! I've been following you for a bit I'm out in the East Valley and exmormon! Its been interesting finding friends as an adult. I have been trying to develop friendships with people who are mormon/exmormon/nevermormon. Also trying to be friends with people who believe politically different from me. It is hard though bc I think humans generally lean into friendship/community with people that are the same as them.

I have felt this for sure. being visibly Muslim in my town sometimes feels like I'm unapproachable because I wear a hijab. it's heart breaking, but I also then go out of my way to make sure I make conversations with other women/moms
