@foxnews: Longtime Seattle Times sports columnist Matt Calkins is walking away after 11 years, saying the paper refused to publish his column giving a voice to female athletes who oppose transgender athletes competing in women’s sports. “I couldn’t do my job as a columnist because I feel like they were stifling my voice.” Calkins says editors held the piece for six days before rejecting it, telling him he hadn’t given enough advance notice. He says he didn’t buy that explanation. The column focused on two Washington student-athletes, including a 16-year-old runner who says she competed against a transgender athlete. The Seattle Times has not responded to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
