Honestly we should go back to eating bugs. Cheap easy protein. Crickets, meal worms, maybe even fly larvae. I've never tried it, might be good. I know they have raised crickets using unused food steams (expired grocery store produce) and the transport and processing cost is negligible because a cricket farm can be IN a city it doesn't need to be 100s of acres of land out in the county side.

So I kinda thought this about primitive people for awhile. Hunting isn’t easy. Primitive tools are hard to make. They wouldn’t be eating meat every day. But bugs are everywhere.

I mean that makes a lot of sense, I figure it would be pretty easy to keep a compost pile/maggot farm sustained with fairly minimal maintenance and they've got most of the same stuff other animals do so 🤷♀️

they also ate uncooked fermented meat. they used to bury meat and let anaerobic bacteria do it's job and ferment the meat, while harmful bacteria that relied on oxygen died off. not cooking the meat preserved much of the nutrients needed

One of my fav things about ancient dental pulp is that we have proof that humans just forced themselves to eat cheese. We knew it messed up our guts but still ate it anyway until we forced our bodies to evolve for it about 11,000yrs ago. Cracks me up every time 😂
