I live in Belgium. I'm 50y old. I'm a teacher and my wife works in a clothing store. so we have what are considered normal wages. we have a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house with 2 car garage. we have 2 kids who went to college. we have 3 cars and go on vacation at least twice a year (3 weeks combined). and we have zero debt! no mortgage, no car payments, no medical debt, no credit-card debt. yes, the tax rate in my country is around 48%. all those things are possible because of my taxes. my government uses my taxes to serve ALL the ppl. not just the billionaires. meanwhile the US has a tax rate of around 25-30%. what do they get in return? crumbling infrastructure, police violence, politicians who serve the billionaires, school shootings, medical debt, student debt, higher child mortality rate, lower health outcomes, shorter life expectancy, crippling debt, higher illiteracy, not being able to afford a house, a military that constantly goes to war because billionaires want cheaper resources... I'm gladly pay my 48% in taxes.
