When I was a nursing student I heard about a patient that told first responders she had eaten a ham that was green and she thought if she cooked it long enough it would kill the bacteria. She was very ill. That was like 17 years ago and I think about it all the time. Hunger is real and not an abstract thing.

Women in their 60s tend to feed others, not starve. My mom is using her free time in her 60s to volunteer at the food pantry, carrying heavy food donations into people’s car trunks for free. Old women are the ones to keep everyone’s needs met.
