@nisikahtivoonah: We talk a lot about the healing power of sound, but I think we also have to be conscious of what we’re listening to every day. Sound can soothe us, help us slow down and create space for the body to settle. And sound can also agitate us, influence our thoughts and keep us consuming messages that we probably wouldn’t consciously choose for ourselves. That includes the music we play, the things we watch, the conversations we entertain and even the words coming out of our own mouths. There’s a reason scripture tells us that death and life are in the power of the tongue. I want to be more intentional about what I allow into my ears, what I speak over myself and what kind of sound I contribute to the world around me. May what we listen to and what we speak bring us closer to Yah, closer to ourselves and closer to the kind of people we’re called to become 🤍 And oh, by the way, we’ll be doing a special sound bowl session at Afro Yoga this Sunday.
