I didn’t realize my mother was narcissistic until this girl who is a narcissist started to remind me of my mother. Everything from her body language, mannerisms and her jealousy of me. When I was younger my mother would always do little things that would hint as narcissism. I honestly believe she’s a covert narcissist especially since she hates being accountable and never admits when she’s wrong. Now that I am a man I chose to just forgive her. And yes in a way I have detached from her and no longer let her get away with violating my boundaries.

when I was growing up at a young age I had a perception that my mother was like the evil step-mother. I couldn’t understand it. I didn’t think anything of it. She was my mother & loved her dearly. When I reached the age 27 I realized , this is not how a mother is supposed to be. She put others before me, withheld love & support when I decided I didn’t want to live my life according to her plans. It was so hard letting her go but I had to learn some self respect which lead me to self preservation. I’ve decided that if I cannot be the person that I am & if she cannot accept me for who I am; I have no business being around her. It’s been 3 years no contact & she’s wondering why I stepped away. I don’t feel like explaining things. We’re both grown, & she’s been grown, & knew what she was doing. I’m truly at peace knowing I’m not around people & environments who don’t & wont accept me for me.

I'm the youngest of nine and was angry at my older siblings for not giving me a heads up on our mom but I later realized they couldn't bc they are still apart of the dysfunctional system aka circus and are playing their assigned roles they likely won't break.
