Chopper :
Aang isn’t taught healing but Korra is which is weird because Aang fits a healer more then Korra

People view women as caretakers, that's a historically accurate mysoginistic fact, and what's the most care taking role when it comes to this type of fiction? Healing

Katara does NOT deserve to be on that list her entire character is based around EVERY part of water bending she know pretty much every form of water bending, she is a master water bender and thus would be talented in healing tho everything else is valid

one of my favourite depictions of a healer is a chain smoking nurse or a in insane surgeon legitimately one of the most realistic considering youre healing someone just for them to get injured again that would usually make you go insane

pike is a real bad example, she was a d&d character belonging to a single person, not written by a writing team

It’s simply more feminine coded. Not misogynistic.

Sakura had soooo much potential too become more like a "tank" type of character but the problem is that she really didn't get another major battle until the end of the series(if you count the whole kaguya fight but i think naruto and sasuke dominated more of that fight)

To summarize: Yes, the female healer troupe is based in misogyny. However, the fact that it's a troupe is the misogynistic part, writing female healers isn't inherently misogynistic.

it can be misagonistic trope, but Sakura and Katara (up to lok) are examples of it being done right. Sakura is the character of high contradictions, so her being a healer doesn't diminish her as a character. She is the healer, (known for being one of the best healers), but her fighting style is anything but "gentle and nurturing". Sakura was introduced as the most stereotypically feminine character (pink long hair, big eyes, very thin but still obsessed with dieting, who needed a man to save her etc.), just to cut her hair, build real muscle, become the tank who can't be killed, who will throw straight hands with anyone. The whole idea of her as a character is "the stereotypical girl breaking the mold", so her being the healer, but not a "gentle nurse who will hand you a glass of water", but a badass doctor, a head of medical department, the owner of many clinics, who will manually pump your heart and then punch the f out of you if you step out of line - is actually very interesting and very healing (pun intended) to the misagonistic media. . Katara on the other hand hated healing. It was a big part of her character arc - rejecting the healing part of bending, because she is a fighter first, to then adapting and adopting the healing as a necessary addition to her mastery of water bending. - the problem with Katara is that in the end, the legend of Korra lit that storyline ON FIRE.

Also doesn’t help that when it comes to male healers in fiction, the healing aspect isn’t what they are truly known for or it isn’t present often enough that it comes to a point you forget that male character has healing abilities. Steven universe comes to mind because while Steven does have healing magic, we only see certain episodes that revolve around it since most of the time he’s either protecting or defending others and he has more abilities and powers that get more developed.

I think it's a mix of good and bad outlooks on women Can come from a place of depicting women as weak but also empowering maternal strength Case in point I think it comes down to the individual depictions of the characters
