Ive been brushing my toddlers teeth since they have been getting teeth. If they ever do fight me or say "no" I simply say okay... the sugar bugs are gonna have a feast and my 3 yr old will say sugar bugs? and I say yeah, their these tiny sugar bugs that love to eat the sugars in your mouth so lets hurry and brush the sugar bugs away!! thats how i handle it and we never have a fight with brushing teeth

I understand what you’re saying but what if they fight you? You can’t necessarily force their mouth open and do it for them, can you? I like your videos but I feel there are always what if’s, it’s not always as simple as you say in my head. I just want to be prepared

There are parents on here that lay their kid down and restrain their arms by sitting on their arms and brushing their teeth, so they wouldn’t fight. And the more of this routine the less the child would fight and just get used to it. I don’t do this, I just brush my kids teeth and allow him to try it himself independently. But I still get it done for him properly. Some days he wiggles away and other days he’s still for me. And I explain as I brush, bottom teeth, back teeth, top teeth, and done now rinse.

if they continue to refuse my go to is no screens or fun activities until they brush. no games, not toys, nothing. once they comply we go back to normal. we don't negotiate with terrorists in this house. hygiene is not optional.
