Grew up broke & went to a low ranked directional state university due to cost, graduated summa cum laude . B4 didn’t even recruit there and needless to say there was zero pipeline to IB, MBB, FAANG. I worked my ass off to network into B4 , got my CPA, and did 5 years in tax before I got into a M7 MBA and pivoted to work in FAANG. The job was long hours & mind numbing but I will always be grateful that I was able to start my career there and get some level of credibility on my resume

once you get into a Big 4, it’s easy to move around within that Big 4! there are so many more roles outside of Tax, Audit, and Consulting

Son’t know about the US but in Norway, you go to big4 if you want to wok like American but get paid like developing countries. Only good for going in the market, and you gotta go out in a year

I’d say average to above average education, not intelligence. Sure, on average there may be more intelligent people at the ivies but let’s not act like that automatically makes you a more intelligent person or if you don’t go to an ivy that you’re “average” intelligence.

I gotta say, as ex-Big 4, this is a bad take. The best earning potential is start at Big 4 & move to industry as soon as you can. Big 4 is currently even underpaying compared to many Fortune 500 industry jobs.
