@aveovershares: It’s a rare historical horror story that will tempt me away from Europe & back to my home country (so you know this one’s gotta be good) #darkhistory #historicalhorror #truecrime #History #LearnOnTikTok
Imagine your defence being ‘your honour my client was too much of a dumbass to be found guilty’

It’s so odd, given that her entire motive was the pregnancy, that they thought she was lying. I can’t help but feel like there was definitely some other reason for the haste.

In naming her Bathsheba, did her parents think her marriage was going to go smoothly?

I can imagine Levi Lincoln thinking, "well I did what I could but there is no case for that kind of stupidity"

They did a Buried Bones podcast episode on this! It is interesting how quick the court system worked back then! An interesting case for such a young country, I feel sorry for almost everyone involved in a way.

As a matter of principle, I wanted to side with the woman. But…. Not this time unfortunately 🫠 yikes

Is this where the use of Bathsheba as a derogatory name originated?

More of this please. This was fantastic. I have visited colonial America (New England specifically) so I have some sense of the history of revolutionary times. However, as a Brit I still feel that I would like to know more about this rather unique period in British history. I was also wondering if the brutality and swiftness of the justice given here wasn’t just about sending a message to loyalist but also a desire to relate that an independent America could competently mete out legal judgments without the overarching power of British law.
