Out of every wasp, cicada killers are probably the most friendly in my opinion. They will very rarely sting you. Only the females can sting, and the whole purpose of their stinger is to paralyze cicadas for their larvae :D

y'all in comments are a bit twitchy. cicada killers are sweethearts, and mostly eat sap or nectar. you can absolutely pick them up if you don't press or poke them

the way I discovered cicada killers was a male flying into my face when I was a young teen. I could not possibly love them more the pretty babies

OMG MY FAVORITE SPECIES OF SOLITARY WASP 🥺 The males are so cute because they (like the males of most wasp species) have no stinger/ovipositor, so theyre essentially just big ol harmless himbo's 😂

After moving to the country and being out here for 4yrs now I have done a ton of research. I don’t kill anything unless it can be harmful to myself or my family, we don’t have many if any venomous spiders or snakes. Our crawl space is home to a good number of cellar spiders and we have several brown snakes and black snakes around. Oh and my favorite, even though I have a slight phobia, are our wolf spiders. We also left about an acre untouched for the local wildlife and insects.
