one of my prof. did a weekly debate instead of discussion boards. we got assigned either point A or point B and had to write a few sentences backing the point then respond/debate one person with the opposite point. very fun & stimulating.

Yes! When I was in college, it felt like I had to write down a whole bunch of random facts. If you don’t mind me asking, what subject do you teach? For example, if you teach history, you could have them write about current events or things happening at the moment. That could help get them more interested in what they’re writing about.

I feel like if it was one class I’d be fine but I’m a student and all my professors use the same concepts with discussion board so it’s like I’m doing 10 of them a week, so I’m def not putting that much effort in them😭😭

Have them record a 1-2 minute video discussing a subject from a set topic of the week and post to a discussion thread. Have the students be required to watch/reply to 1 or 2 of their classmates videos
