QUICK HEADS UP: The outside of the plaza is currently being renovated and Garlic Lovers’ sign is temporarily down, BUT THEY ARE OPEN! Don’t drive by and think they’re closed! Jocelyn and I almost skipped Garlic Lovers because we’ve had their kebabs and rice before. We wanted something different, but we were running out of ideas and decided to finally sit down and try some of their other dishes. WHAT HAVE WE BEEN MISSING?! 🤯 We basically had the entire restaurant to ourselves, and after eating this meal, we genuinely cannot understand HOW this place isn’t packed. The calamari alone was ridiculous. Crispy, tender, and that sauce?! It tasted like somebody pulled the recipe out of a 100 year-old Italian kitchen. Rich, slightly spicy and absolutely LOADED with flavor. Then came the hummus with their homemade pita bread. Perfectly balanced, incredibly smooth hummus with pita that had that little crunch on the outside and a warm, soft center. Unreal. Then the entrées showed up… I got the Chicken Dijon, and this dish was on ANOTHER LEVEL. Crispy chicken that somehow STAYED crispy throughout the entire meal, creamy sauce, charred tomato and cheese. Everything worked together perfectly. And if you hear “Dijon” and immediately think mustard, DON’T. The sauce was creamy, rich and packed with flavor. Jocelyn’s eggplant was just as impressive. Thin, perfectly rolled eggplant with spinach, ricotta and a creamy sauce almost reminiscent of a vodka sauce. Even the rice was cooked perfectly. And we have to mention Tina, our waitress, because she was absolutely fantastic. Great service from beginning to end. There are meals you eat…and then there are meals you remember.
