The pilot was friend of mine. We were partners at the local ambulance company back in the early 90’s. He was working his way through medical school at the time. He was good man. So sad. Rest Easy Paul.

You guys see one person comment “Rotor wash” and run with it. The plane is literally coming in like 90° of the runway. The helicopter did NOT cause this.

helicopter down wash is no joke especially when flying a light single engine, even if the helicopter took off and left, the vortices can last several minutes. but at the end of the day it’ll sadly be pinned as the pilots fault because he should’ve known that when coming into land, and either waited or asked them to move.

that plan was not out of control at all. I focused on 182 a lot. that helicopter created an enormous amount of turbulence and side and down draft literally sucking that plane right into it.
