You can only get privacy through money. With enough money you could just build your own CPU, with enough money you could do the spying

On a mainstream x86 CPU you just simply can’t get a system that you can fully audit. Atleast with intel you can disable ME. As far as I know you can’t really do that with AMD as PSP is required to boot. In the end you can only improve your privacy according to your threat model and if the government wants to spy on you then they’ll find way sadly

If you want, I know of some options. You could try Libreboot BIOS (usually only usable with older CPUs), or Coreboot BIOS if you're using an Intel i7. If you don't want Intel or AMD backdoors, use something else.

You can remove intel me yes manually and alot of work, there is ivyra1n project for older laptops lenovo T series. But yes this is the biggest privacy concern yet I hardly see it

using intel me or amd psp is such an inconvinient way to "spy", first of all - most of us are wate of time for them, we need to thonk about securing our data from other things like ads tracking etc. when someone is interesting to nsa/cia they have betger methods to spy on them that dont come with so much complexety

all you need it to make an spi dump of the bios and dump of ime image. and analyze it via special software. basically you are pretty safe is you dont have vpro modules and amt, which comes with it( network stacking). else, write a custom bios, and unlock some hidden manufacturer menus, sometimes there are menus which arr related to turning ime/amt off.
