Good analysis and to add on. Have anyone wondered why the flyover links the airport to the Parliament House and then to downtown?? Pre-independence and slightly after independence downtown was the heart of modern POM. Does anyone think that downtown area will fall? No it didn’t. Starting off with the APEC haus and development of Ela beach. Modern hotels and pubs. The development of downtown is continuing and will continue into the future. Development of the fly over hooking up the Parliament House, and further China town will see another major freeway apart from the Kumul fly over that will take shape. These highways will provide a buffer for further development that will stretch kilometers in radius, and settlers residing along that path will be moved. Yes, that’s happening. I’m thinking Airport-parliament house-China town -downtown. That’s the network where anything existing along this highway will be asked to move. No, no, it’s not for us fellow PNGns, that how the plan is designed to provide a “SAFE” buffer for foreigners and politicians to carry out their business while ordinary Papua New Guineans suffer outside the buffer. Australians counter attacking the China town deal by installing the PNG kumuls NRL team, while the Chinese are fighting for space. Either way the Chinese and Australians know that linking the airport to the Parliament House, to China town and to downtown MUST BE SECURED AND SAFE. Vision city plus additional improvements taking place along that link. Hotels, sir John guise sport stadium. City hall. Can’t we see development is directed along this link? Go towards boroko or gerehu, nothing. Normal shops preserved for small business owners. Those areas aren’t included in that vital link from airport to downtown. Seapark removed, settlers gone! Soon burns peak settlers and post courier settlers will be gone. 9 mile eviction. 2 mile ol go. Development in POM is possibly along this link mentioned. Papa grown you ba lucky, but taim ol big investor come, they will pay you sums of money to move out. Downtown in the future will be dominated by foreigners. So what are we going to do???

The priority should not be simply cleaning the city or building luxury hotels to impress visitors. The most important investment should be in the basic infrastructure that keeps the city running, especially the water and electricity systems. With the population and development rapidly growing, these systems need to be properly maintained, modernised and expanded to handle future demand. Once the foundation is strong, then beautification, tourism and luxury developments can follow.

I’ve seen this changes last year too… mi lukim ol hotel buildings woklo kerap nating nating na shops too woklo sanap lo olgeta hap na mi faul na askim mi yet why this things are happening coz yumi planty can’t even afford to go to shops everyday na lo sleep lo hotel too so why was there new buildings especially shopping centers/hotels
