our DM has a magic shopkeeper that uses his pet cat (his familiar) to keep track of customers and if they try to steal stuff they get a shocking grasp from the cat as a warning xD

there is a spell in valdas spire of secrets (pt 2 on dnd beyond) that is called protect threshold and it's a tough spell on a door so when anyone goes through its wisdom save vs 4d8 damage. ten minute duration, before a fight broke out I had my familiar mark each door so when everyone tried to run they got obliterated, especially because the front door was a man trap (2 layered doors)

Magic Stone is a touch spell, so if your familiar has any kind of manipulating appendages, you can have them shoot deadly missiles while you’re in a different location, drinking tea💁♂️

not as a player familiar but as an enemy familiar, a warlock of the party made a deal with a trickster god to give themselves infinite power, but said god didn't disclose the terms of the contract, it wasn't until a couple years after the deal was made that the party's warlock realized the threat that followed them, they now join the party to find a way to be rid of the snail but keep their powers by any means nessasary
