Among the pro-Palestine camp, there is no effort to build real bridges with the Jewish community, and usually outright antipathy. They still talk as if a free Palestine will come through dismantling Israel, erasing Zionism, or pretending millions of Israeli Jews will simply disappear. But Israel exists. It is powerful. It is not going anywhere. That reality has to be faced. Enough with “us versus them.” Any viable future has to encompass both peoples, however painful the history is. The good news is that many Palestinians (in Gaza, in the United States, and elsewhere) already understand this. The bad news is that many are afraid to say it openly.
