i got taught this in school! but a tad bit different basically you go to your kitchen and stare at something while reviewing a specific topic eg you look at your kettle while reviewing flashcards and in an exam you just think back to you being in the kitchen and looking at the kettle and boom you remember everything at least i do it works like 80% of the time for me if i’m in an exam 😭

Can someone use a better example because using a hippocampus analogy when this is involving the hippocampus is quite confusing 😭

I never understood the palace part because then I have to remember what is in the palace and where and how does that help?

Wow, I’ve been doing this with numbers since I was little. I have this weird ability to remember almost any number someone tells me, especially birthdays. Every time people ask me how I do it, I just say: “I put the date in my mental calendar and it’s saved forever” 😭

I do this all the time since I was young. One I love is the lambdoid skull bone lol. Since it’s the back of the head it’s like your friend hitting you in the back of the neck and when that happens your vision goes dark (vision =lamp=lamb) then you’re mad at him so you say DUDE? (dude=doid)

I think another good way, is to teach things to someone else, even if you give a talk to one of your teddies. Try and teach what you’ve learnt but in simple terms, if you can explain something complex to a child and also to an adult, and also then give an analogy, then you’ve got that topic nailed.

I manipulate abstract concepts like objects. Think like containers, like words. So? I work with the substrate, not a nested abstraction or lower resolution images. The encoding and quality of that said encoding matters more than perfect recall. If you want to be able to use memory for anything else than just reciting. 👌

The lacrimal bone for me also cuz it’s close the eye. Say you see a criminal and you hate him so you go to punch him in the face especially the eye giving him a black eye (criminal =crimal) when you hit him he scream and say “laaaa” lacrimal hahaha

Yeah I tried this before. It doesn’t work for me. I’m way better at reading and repeating until it’s perfect. Then listening to the audio of what I’ve read. Then I test and repeat periodically so it sticks

Commenting so the algorithm brings me back!!! I used to have a fairly decent ability to remember information but then I developed several neurological disorders that absolutely WRECKED my ability to recall things reliably, I’m fairly recovered now (I’ll always have the disorders but I’m not super super sick anymore) so I am hoping this will help!
