@experience_local_japan: This is my third year joining this fire festival, and it’s something I look forward to. Every year, people start whispering, "I wonder if we'll even be able to hold it this year..." It makes me feel a bit bittersweet thinking that a summer tradition we take for granted might disappear one day. I participate as a volunteer every year, and anyone can join! You can help out with setup in the morning before the festival starts, or stay on fire watch along the path during the main event. It gives you a real sense of unity and lets you connect with the locals—an experience you just can't get by simply carrying a torch up the hill 😊 They also have same-day registration for carrying torches, which is open to everyone.
