@drlesliedobson: FIVE THINGS ABOUT THE CLANCY TRIAL THAT PISSED ME OFF. (So Far.) I’ve covered this trial every single day — and these are the five things I cannot get past. Providers weren’t communicating. Records weren’t being connected. More than a dozen medications were prescribed while the only documented diagnosis was generalized anxiety disorder. She reportedly couldn’t access a postpartum program because she was too medicated. And despite escalating warning signs, there was no clear plan. This was not a woman who hid that she was struggling. She went to appointments. She admitted herself to a locked ward. She told her family. She wrote in her journal. She emailed providers throughout the night. And now we’re talking about motive and premeditation? Okay. Please tell me — WHAT WAS THE MOTIVE????

As someone who had PPD…the greatest help that could have been offered to her was a HUSBAND who stepped in and removed her from her duties as default parent. He had the power to save his wife and children.

We need Lindsey Law. We need a change in women's health. How are we supposed to know what's wrong with us if our doctors aren't doing their freaking jobs correctly.

Not one single person who testified for the prosecution said Lindsay was manipulative and was just over being a mom

As a nurse for 25 yrs. If my patient said to me I’m thinking of killing myself or I have thoughts of it. That’s enough of a plan for me!!! I agree with everything you are saying.

Facts. I have seizures and trying to get my neurologist and OBGYN to talk to one another is like to trying to make two of the straightest men ever to kiss live on Fox News.

When she said she had horrible intrusive thoughts they never asked what those were! I think those were thoughts about her children. She said she was worried about people being able to read her thoughts and thinking she was a bad Mom. No one asked what those thoughts were! And the no plan just threw me. I presented Youth Mental Health First Aid to schools and in that 8 hour training we discussed that not having a plan does not mean there is a crisis! This was all crazy to me!

That’s the part I can’t get over is how all these providers did not communicate with each other, were aware of each other, and all agreed she was getting worse. They never thought it might be a good idea to reach out to each other?

Being too medicated alone should have been enough of a concern to pay closer attention. that's a cry for help in my opinion. and this whole "not having a plan" as a reason is fckn insane. that's like saying don't bother putting batteries in the fire alarms until there's an active fire happening

What’s been driving me crazy is the idea that they needed to meet a certain criteria in order to admit her for treatment. And I’m like, she was there voluntarily! It’s not like they were trying to involuntarily commit her for 72 hours, because you do need cause for that. Her showing up and wanting to be committed should have been enough. Forget the checklists, forget the buzz words, if someone shows up and says that their mental health is so bad that they are voluntarily requesting that they be held, that should be the only burden of proof required at that point.

What’s crazy to me is that the UK Law of The Infanticide Act isn’t across the world, this act is a statute stating that if a mother causes the death of her biological child under twelve months old while the balance of her mind is disturbed from childbirth or lactation, she is guilty of infanticide rather than murder, this would be like manslaughter at sentencing, the mothers are treated in hospital.

The thing that made me rage was not having a plan. In what world does not having a plan dictate care?!?

Can we also talk about how someone that heavily medicated can have pharmacological hypersuggestibility and chemical compliance. So if someone told her she did something, of course she will think she did it.

What gets me is the inexperienced psychiatrist who couldn’t be bothered to seek out an opinion from a more experienced psychiatrist, and then she had an attitude in court. She’s not a doctor I’d want anyone I know to go see.

she was turned away from mental health for not having a plan .... this is confirmed .... but is being chaged by the state with an elaborately planned murder ... make it make sense.

With computers, there is NO reason this info couldn’t be shared amongst providers. NONE. This is supposedly the “best” psych hospital in the country???? Please. Imagine what the rest of us go through. I had terrible PPD and intrusive thoughts. A provider asked me about it, I said yes. Nothing was done. She let me leave. I sat in my car and sobbed.
