this is a great question and there's not a single answer. it's a combination of men don't really think that much about gender, trans men aren't seen as men, trans men aren't seen as a threat to manhood, and the misogyny that's ingrained into society that sees trans men as confused girls or tomboys. the invisibility trans men face is also in part of the hyper focus on trans women because it's easier to cause fear by saying "man in dress is a threat to women" than it is by saying "woman in suit is threat to men"

Yeah we don’t get taken seriously by men at all. Sad but true. I get treated like a woman half the time. Men opening doors for me, helping me lift things when I can clearly do it on my own. Now this isn’t to say they’re doing it solely because they see me as a woman still, but the comments by them don’t help either. Some men are just kind too I guess.
