Nope. In his head, I'm the narcissist who controlled and abused him for 10 years.. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

I do not want that last conversation anymore! Talking to him is pointless and to be honest the more I pointed out how he hurt me and the more I explained it, it was almost like I was handing him the blueprint to destroy my spirit l, heart, and make me feel absolutely crazy! I spent 7 years in the hell and just when I thought he was gone for good..7 months no contact.. he came back just to knock me on my ass one more time!!!!! Where Iโ€™m struggling so bad is wanting karma!!!!!!! He goes about is life, no accountability, NOTHING. In fact he just ghosts! I get pissed he hangs up and then he just never responds again!!! But of course he knows how that triggers me and makes me feel and then he waits a few months until he thinks oh sheโ€™s calmed down. Sheโ€™s not angry anymore!!! but he just gets to live his life like nothing happened while Iโ€™m carrying the weight and the pain of all of this per usual it cost me my sleep. Iโ€™ve lost over 25 pounds from all of this, anxiety.. you name it!!! Itโ€™s truly hell on earth

For those stuck in this ruminationโ€”we did have this conversation, a couple weeks before I moved out. He validated everything, apologized, even criedโ€ฆ told me it was never about me, not my fault, he acknowledges ruining my life, Iโ€™m amazing, heโ€™s horrible, etc. and then guess whatโ€ฆ the NEXT day, it was like that apology never even happened. We got into a screaming match over a trigger I had. And suddenly, I was the bad guy once again. The apology was simply a way to continue to cycle. Cause I was emotionally checked out for WEEKS prior to thatโ€ฆ PLEASE understand they cannot comprehend or offer the level of emotional connection youโ€™re looking for. Itโ€™s like asking someone without legs to walk.

1. They know what they are doing. It took years for me to realize this because I didnโ€™t wan to believe it.

๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ’ฏ They can be incredibly strategic in their manipulation, saying and doing exactly the right things to convince you that theyโ€™ve genuinely changed. They can make it seem completely believable, but itโ€™s only temporary. Once they feel comfortable and confident that theyโ€™ve won you back, their old patterns eventually resurface. They can temporarily override those behaviours by slipping back into the love-bombing personaโ€”essentially playing a character, much like an actor, for the deceptive purpose of drawing you back in. ๐Ÿ™

I can attest to this, he came back after almost 2 years took accountability for everything, repeated the whole cycle and he repeated the same behaviors

I had that closure conversation and got sucked back in...only for him to repeat the same behaviors that made me leave in the first place and the cycle started again. thankfully I finally broke and he's blocked. I will never reach out ever again

My ex was excellent at faking accountability. He would apologize profusely, say I never deserved it, would start therapy, journal, self help books. And the everything would seem like I finally had the person I was waiting for. And the cycle would start again.

I have purposely stayed single since I left him I tried dating a few times and honestly I need to be able to love myself and trust myself before I will allow another human into my life. I spent so many years being controlled by him in very small and very slow ways but I was a well-trained dog. today I choose me for better for worse for richer for in sickness and health I choose me

My narc would have unprompted accountability maybe once every six months and it would do exactly that. Iโ€™d get that dopamine hit and feel like he understood how bad he was treating and hurting me, but it was all manipulation. NOTHING ever changed!

the only thing that broke the trauma bond for me was the deep and utter realization *and acceptance* that they would never change/i would never be able to explain myself in a way that would have them understand me.

Yep. That conversation is never going to happen. They are incapable of true honesty, empathy, or accountability. Everything is a scam with them. You can't he hopeful for them.

And if they somehow did do all that, it would only be a lie to manipulate you. They wouldnโ€™t believe it themselves and would just go back to treating you the same.

It took me 8 years after my divorce to finally break the trauma bond. Itโ€™s so fucking freeing. I hardly ever think about him or what he did to me. I sent him one last text message with everything I wanted to say, waited until he read it and then blocked him on everything.
