Baby gator talks to big gator!! I have NEVER heard a gator sniffing like this before!! Big Mac was sniffing the baby in a way I’ve never seen before! Really fascinating behavior! The part of the brain devoted to processing odors is relatively large for a reptile, and they have specialized sensory tissue inside the nasal passages. I’ve personally witnessed their amazing ability to pick up scents before, but never seen anything quite like this! We have both of these gators after they were hit by vehicles! Big Mac was hit by a truck, and this little baby was also hit and brought to a rehabber, thankfully did not suffer any real injuries, but once in rehab FL law mandates they stay in captivity afterwards.
