The other thing, that was said to me SO many times and pissed me off to know wnd, was the divorce comparison. At Matt’s FUNERAL someone told me they understood how I felt because it was like a death when they got divorced. I just stared at them and then said “I’m sure it is awful knowing your ex husband is no longer alive—oh wait. He is living and breathing and going on with his life right? He didn’t just end?”

I’m a child loss mom, so many people aren’t helpful. I had a dream of her about a week after that she was alive, in my dream I woke up from a nap and saw she was there and I thought that I just had a nightmare, then I woke up and realized, nope I’m truly living it. I’m sorry you’re having to go through this. Having to function while grieving is unbearable. Sending love to you and everyone grieving him 💕

I wish that instead of people trying to find words they THINK will be helpful, they would just sit there and allow me to grieve. Every single point you’ve made has gotten under my skin because none of it has been comforting nor endearing.

I think everyone thinks about the what if. The thing is, no matter how you think you’re gonna react is absolutely not what’s gonna happen. It’s like an atomic bomb goes off in your life and nothing looks the same. You have to live in the aftermath and you’re never ever gonna be the same.

At the end of the day, you will never stop missing him… it’s been 8yrs and I still think he could walk thru the door. It was just two weeks ago I looked at our son and realized he was 14, not 5… he’s a spitting imagine of his father, the good and the bad lol, but I love seeing him grow into the young man he’s becoming cause I know his dad is proud of me for being strong and continuing. On the other side… one day I will get to him again and he and I will throw hands but the love I had then I will never not have. Cry, be upset, be sad. Hell I still cry in the shower. But know how you feel now is normal. Sending you hugs cause I know this simply put….. F**cking SUCKS…

As an older woman, who has had a lifetime of loss, please find small ways to celebrate him daily. Whether that’s sitting in his favorite spot while quietly drinking coffee or kissing the sweet faces of your children (they are 1/2 of him). For a long time I was so caught up in the day I lost him that I couldn’t find it in myself to celebrate all of the beautiful days he was here. His spirit will speak to you with every breath you take and every heartbeat of your children. I know it’s hard but you’ve got this! I believe in you 🤗
