You adapt to the hard work that your goals require This seemingly simple concept has been on my mind lately because it's making me reconsider what goals to pursue. Example: let's say you want to be a rockstar. But you look at a rockstar and you see 12 hour workdays in the studio, rehearsal, and touring. That sounds really hard and not for you - for now, anyway. It may seem less hard a few months into that, even if you're doing the same work. In this way, the perceived effort between you and your goals may not be that big at all. Simpler example: you want to get more fit. The workouts and nutrition required seem really annoying. However, doing them for a few months (or even a few weeks) makes them seem a lot more normal. The perceived daily effort you have might be the same as what you have today - except you get to enjoy the benefits of your goals. Spun the other way, there may be things you do now that are hard and you don't even realize it because you've adjusted to them. It makes me rethink the things I want but discarded at some point - maybe the tradeoff wasn't as bad as I thought. Who knows. In some cases, the tradeoff may genuinely be as bad as you thought (or worse). Could be worth a try though. Have a wonderful day! #hybridcalisthenics
