@filmenthusiast: Gorlami! 🤌 Inglourious Basterds released 17 years ago today. Pitt doesn't even attempt an Italian accent in this scene, and that's the actual joke. He walks in as "Enzo Gorlami," a name Tarantino lifted straight from Enzo G. Castellari, the real director of the original 1978 Inglorious Bastards, and just repeats it in his flat Tennessee drawl while Landa makes him say it again and again, clearly enjoying watching him squirm. Meanwhile Christoph Waltz is doing this for real. Dude actually speaks German, French, English, and Italian fluently, and Tarantino wrote Landa to switch between all four mid scene like it's nothing, using language as a weapon instead of small talk. Pitt visibly butchering one language next to Waltz gliding through four of them in the same breath is why this scene still slaps 17 years later.
