I’m a yoga teacher, and I’m a bit embarrassed to admit these things: 1. I needed to have another job to secure my income because I simply couldn’t earn enough from teaching yoga alone. 2. I don’t practice yoga every day. I actually find it much easier to practice when I’m teaching or practicing with other people. When I’m by myself, some days I practice and some days I don’t. 3. Even though I really enjoy pranayama, I don’t practice it nearly as often as I would like to. I still focus much more on asana than on the other limbs of yoga, which is something I’m not very proud to admit. 4. I wish I could say I meditate every day, but I don’t. Some days I do, and then there are many days when I skip it completely. 5. I have a meditation teacher certification, but I’ve never actually taught meditation. 6. I’m not naturally flexible. I need to train consistently to maintain my flexibility and strength, and if I stop practicing, I lose both pretty quickly. 7. I secretly hate backbends. They’ve always been hard for me, and I often find myself trying to avoid them in my practice. 8. I haven’t been teaching or practicing asana lately because I’ve been going through some health challenges, and this has been very hard for me to accept. I realized how much of my identity was connected to teaching and practicing asana only when I suddenly couldn’t do it anymore. I know very well that yoga is so much more than asana, but accepting this has still been difficult for me. Even though I’ve been facing a lot of challenges lately, I can say for certain that yoga has saved my life in so many ways. I’ve stepped away from the path and found my way back again more times than I can count. I haven’t always been consistent. I haven’t practiced perfectly. But somehow, every time I come back to yoga, it brings me closer to myself. And I trust that it will guide me back home again, just as it did every time in the past. 🤍 Follow along if you want to see more of the honest, imperfect and very human side of my yoga journey. #YogaJourney #YogaTeacher #YogaBeyondAsana
