@bof: Since the launch of her namesake label in 2024, Antwerp-educated Alaïa alum Julie Kegels (@juliekegels) has fast become one of fashion’s most exciting emerging designers. “My mum introduced me to the work of the Antwerp Six, which was a total shock to me,” she said, recalling how the radical group of fellow Belgians was a key starting point to a career that’s led her to a trademark mix of modern, sculptural silhouettes, femininity and humour — and a spot amongst the finalists for this year’s LVMH Prize. In the latest installment of The Spotlight, Angel Nemov speaks to Kegels about building her business, as she launches her first pre-collection. “The biggest dream is to have a growing company, but in a stable way.”
