The Cyclops island is Voidokilia Beach in Messenia, with the cave in the cliff above it. Circe's island is Findlater Castle on Scotland's Moray coast. Odysseus's palace on Ithaca is the Castello di Santa Caterina on Favignana, off Sicily. Troy was a temporary set built at Aït Benhaddou in Morocco. Here are 5 tips: 1. Voidokilia is free and swimmable, about an hour from Kalamata airport. Go early morning or in September, the crowds have found it and access rules just tightened. 2. The Cyclops cave (its real name is Nestor's Cave) is view-only from the path, you can't go inside. 3. Findlater Castle is free year-round, a short walk from the car park off the A98. Look, don't climb, the ruin is eroding. 4. Favignana is a 30 to 40 minute ferry from Trapani, then a free walk up to the castle, about 40 minutes. No cars to the top. 5. Aït Benhaddou is still open and spectacular, but the Troy set was temporary. What's there is the centuries-old village you've already seen in Gladiator and Game of Thrones.
