It's not about feeling the “feeling” before you achieve your goals. It's about remaining in a neutral state. Because I can guarantee that once you achieve whatever it is you're going for, that “happiness” soon diminishes, and you'll seek the next “thrill.” Nothing in this physical reality is real, so staying in a neutral state, no matter what happens, is the ultimate test/goal. It's unrealistic to feel the achievement before it happens because it hasn't happened yet. This will lead to more frustration when reality doesn't align because reality will always push you to your limits. Try your best to remain neutral and keep striving for the goal.

My problem is in my years of depression and isolation I know intellectually that I probably could feel better if I have a changed life - money, travel, friends again etc. Yet emotionally I am not capable of even imagining anything making me feel better! When you’re depressed you feel like NOTHING will make you feel better, let alone actually feel better just by thinking about it!
