@drdavidmorris: Why does your sinus infection keep coming back? Recurring sinus infections and chronic sinus symptoms can have more than one possible cause. One mechanism researchers have studied is biofilm formation. Biofilms are communities of microorganisms that attach to surfaces and produce a protective matrix, potentially making them more difficult to eliminate. Your sinuses also have a natural mucus-clearance system called the mucociliary escalator. Tiny cilia help move mucus and debris out of your sinus passages. Inflammation, irritation, repeated infections, and dry air may interfere with this process. That's why recurrent sinus problems deserve a broader conversation than simply repeating antibiotics. Depending on the cause, healthcare professionals may discuss approaches such as saline nasal irrigation and maintaining appropriate humidity. Research has also investigated xylitol and N-acetylcysteine (NAC) for chronic sinus symptoms, but evidence is still developing. 👉 Have your sinus symptoms ever returned soon after finishing antibiotics? 💬 How many rounds of sinus treatment have you gone through? ⚠️ Don't stop, delay, or change prescribed antibiotics because of a social media video. Recurrent, severe, or persistent sinus symptoms should be evaluated by a qualified healthcare professional. #sinusinfection #sinusitis #chronicsinusitis #sinushealth #biofilm #nasalcongestion #sinuspressure #salinerinse #NAC #xylitol #healthtok #murfreesboro #functionalmedicine #magnoliamedicalcenter #rootcause #fyp #viral

Thanks for the tips. Question- are you suggesting taking NAC as a supplement or adding it in the sinus rinse?

hi Dr. im on iv antibiotics 3 to 4 times a year for pseudonomas and other opportnistic sinus and lung infections. it really started after I had a brain tumor removed the dr went in through t sinuses that is when my health has drastically declined. I take nac do nasal irrigation does it temporary help yes but the infections never fully go away. it been years. i also developed mctd and primary immune defciency. regarding breaking up the biofilm nothing has really fully helped. if I could fully get rid of these infections. my other health proble.s including my neuropathy would improve im sure. my inflammatory markers are always abnormally high. I am so exhausted from all this. I also do saline irrigation for my lungs to rid the mucus but hain nothing fully helps. I wish there were other things to break up the biofillm

I have recurring MSSA and my sinuses are inflamed 24/7 for 4+ years now.
I went on a cycle of SS-31 to get underneath the biofilm and kill the bacteria but I still have all the symptoms.
Your thoughts?
