My pastor told me I couldn’t be a part of the church unless I offered 8 hours of my time a week and or $250 a week. I spent two years at that church, thought I was a member and one day some old guy up in the front with a microphone asked how long I’ve been a member, and I said “two years”. After that big old Robert Forrester pulled me into the back of the church and told me that next Sunday I had to get up in front of everybody and apologize for lying because I was not a member. I asked why he said “because, you have to sign all these papers”, (which was a stack as thick as a US history textbook) and then “you have to donate eight hours of your time a day or $250 a week”, mind you I was running a business and going to college at the same time. I cussed him out in the parking lot, years later he had to leave the church because he threatened to kill an old lady bc something she said about him.
