What is God doing when you know something is sin, but you keep doing it? Here are three truths that many Christians have never truly understood. Hebrews 10:26 KJV says: “For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins.” This is not a comfortable verse, but it is a warning we must take seriously. It is not meant to frighten you. It is meant to remind you: Do not use God’s grace as a reason to keep sinning. Please remember these three truths. Save this if you are serious about repentance. First: Wilful sin is not just weakness. It is a rejection of the truth. We all stumble, and we all have moments of weakness. But the real danger is not falling. It is knowing that something does not please God, yet still telling yourself: “It is fine. I will change next time.” One compromise, then another, and little by little, sin no longer frightens you. It is not that you do not know the truth. You are beginning to choose not to listen. That is rejecting God. Second: One of God’s most severe judgements is not punishment, but allowing you to go your own way. Romans 1:24 KJV says: “Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts.” Sometimes, God’s warnings do not become louder. Instead, you become less able to hear them. At first, sin made you uneasy. Later, it no longer seems serious. At first, you wept when you prayed. Later, you became more and more indifferent. The real danger is not that you stumble for a time, but that your heart begins to grow numb to sin. Third: If you are still grieved by your sin, do not give up. The real question is not how many times you have fallen. It is whether, after you fall, you are still willing to return to the Lord. If you still grieve over sin, still long to change, and still cry out to God, then do not keep running away. Sin does not usually destroy a person’s life all at once. It often begins with one small compromise after another, until a person gradually loses their sensitivity to sin. Today is the time to turn back.
