@ninaforcher: Day 69 of creating my life-sized sculpture for Burning Man and we’re FINALLY finishing the front. And yes, Day 69 is a little more accurate than the “Day 1, Day 2, Day 3” I was using before 😭 Those were really just different stages of the process. In reality, I’ve been working on this sculpture for almost three months, using basically every free evening and weekend I have. Today I’m filling in one of the last sections on the front with white, which was always part of the original design. After seeing it on paper for months, it’s so satisfying to finally see how it actually works with all the rainbow colors, symbols and details around it. We’re now at 70,000+ individually placed straight pins, glass seed beads, pearls and crystals, with every single one attached completely by hand. After staring at tiny sections from about 10 cm away for months, seeing the whole front finally come together feels slightly unreal. Day 69 and we are getting VERY close. 😭✨
