My 2 month progress as a travel content creator! I’ve been wanting to get into content creation because 1) I travel so much and I am always the planner and researcher so I want to share my learnings to help everyone make the most of their trips and inspire everyone to travel more because it is so easy to fit in a weekend trip when you’re in London, 2) I want to earn an alternate source of income! Not because I don’t like my job, because I actually find it really interesting but because it just doesn’t pay me that well and 3) I want to grow my confidence on and off camera because being able to speak and sell is an absolutely necessary skill in this day and age, especially if you want to be very successful. So in my first 2 months I’ve managed to gain over 4400 followers and it is literally mainly just from one video. With those followers, I’ve been able to apply for content creation programs such as the @@getyourguidecommunity 🌎✈️🌴 I get a 5% discount code people can use to book tours and I can earn commission. So I shared and posted about real tours that I went on. The creators community also offer sponsored experiences so I got a £50 voucher from that for when I go to Portugal (my next trip). Another unexpected way I earned money was I had an app creator message me and offer to pay me to use and provide feed back for their app. Moving forward, I’ve recently started to spend a lot of time looking into UGC. I think it’s a great skill being able to sell a product or a service and I guess that’s what brands really pay you for right? So I’ve signed up to so many apps and applied for so many briefs and been accepted into some but I haven’t made any money yet and I am still building my portfolio at the moment. So I’m excited to see what the next month brings as I start taking user generated content (UGC) more seriously. I am really hoping to build my on screen presence and confidence as I believe this is what you need to build a following.
