Police say she instead drove straight to her medical clinic—and the baby remained strapped inside the car for roughly eight hours. Scottie Gwyn Crowell was found D*ad on Aug. 13 outside Owensboro Health Multicare in Madisonville. Her grandmother, Dr. Stacey Fazenbaker, 61, had offered to pick Scottie up that morning and take her to daycare. The mistake was not discovered until around 4 p.m., when Scottie’s father arrived at daycare to collect her and learned she had never been dropped off. The family then realized Fazenbaker had gone directly to work. Police said she rushed outside with coworkers and found Scottie still inside the vehicle. Officers attempted lifesaving measures, but it was too late. Temperatures outside reportedly reached 95 degrees that day, while the temperature inside the vehicle was reported to have climbed as high as 115 degrees. No charges have been filed as investigators continue examining exactly how the tragedy happened. Police said Fazenbaker was tested for Dr*gs and Alc*hol but indicated they did not expect positive results. Authorities said the case could eventually be presented to a grand jury.
