@thenewarab: German CDU (Christian Democratic Union) MEP Hildegard Bentele appeared to justify Itamar Ben-Gvir’s calls for killing Palestinians in Gaza by invoking debunked claims about babies being burned on 7 October. Ben-Gvir, Israel’s far-right national security minister, recently called for Israel to kill “30 to 40” Palestinians in Gaza every night and later showed off a gallows facility being built to execute Palestinian prisoners. The remarks drew condemnation in Europe, while the 7 October claims used to defend Israel’s actions have been repeatedly challenged by investigations and fact-checkers, including the widely circulated “baby in an oven” and “40 beheaded babies” stories.
