Long overdue introduction :) Small money decisions compounded over time. 💰 It started with saving 80% of my part-time income because my dad challenged me to save 70%. 🎓 I applied for every scholarship and bursary I could find and kept up my grades, so I could pay for university myself. 📊 I tracked every dollar I spent, which allowed me to easily manipulate my own spending habits and work towards my savings goals. 🏠 I worked three jobs to build the credit history and income I needed to rent my first apartment without a Canadian co-signer. 📈 I opened my first investment account with CIBC , realized investing wasn’t nearly as intimidating as I’d made it out to be. I started investing on my own with @Wealthsimple and also used @EQ Bank as my everyday banking. I kinda thought adults just... magically knew how money worked yk. But when I moved to Canada for university, I quickly realized nobody was going to explain credit scores, investing, TFSAs, taxes, or the “normal” number to spend on eating out (like is it $50 or $350??). If I wanted to feel confident with my money, I had to learn it myself. So if you’re also on your personal finance journey as a student or young adult, I hope some of this information helps you feel a little less overwhelmed. What’s one topic you wish someone had explained to you sooner? Or what part of your money journey are you figuring out right now? Long overdue introduction :) #personalfinancecanada #studentfinance #student #moneystory #womenwhoinvest
