@beginbirding: Ever wondered where those wire-loads of Swallows actually go? The best place to look for large groups of Swallows is when they gather up to roost in large reedbeds, much like Starlings in winter, but less predictable. The best places to look are anywhere with a reedbed like your local wetland reserve, over the next few weks. Dusk is the time to catch it, flocks pouring in from all directions and dropping into the reeds within minutes. One of the most underrated wildlife spectacles in the UK, and most people have no idea it's happening on their doorstep. Have you seen any large flocks of Swallows recently? #naturetok #Outdoors #birdwatching #wildlife #birdtok

Swallows might be in trouble. We had no nests this year, perhaps the magpie took an early nest but usually we have three to four nests. Only four adults. Sad.

It is one of nature’s most epic migrations - and to think they will try to return - to where they were born.

Why do they need to fly so far though? North Africa would be ok surely? Or southern Spain? 😳
