@infrariseafrica: You Can (Almost) Drive From Cairo to Cape Town 🌍 | The Trans-African Highway DESCRIPTION You can almost drive from the very top of Africa to the very bottom — from Cairo to Cape Town. 🌍 That's around 10,000 km, through nine countries. It's part of the Trans-African Highway network: a continent-wide web of roads meant to stitch Africa together the way highways once united other continents. The Cairo-to-Cape Town route runs down the eastern side — through deserts, savanna, mountains and rainforest — and much of it is already paved and driveable today. The dream is huge. On a continent where trade between neighbours is often harder than trade with Europe or China, good roads could mean cheaper goods, easier travel, and a single connected market of over a billion people. There are still missing links — but finish the roads, and you don't just connect cities. You connect a continent.
